Wide open space for camping, guests bring their own tents and sleeping supplies. Campers have pitched many of my favorite kind of tents: the Kirkham's Canvas Springbar tents. A field full of tents makes for happy campers. These well-organized campers pitched their similar style tents in nice neat rows. Our camping area can accommodate very large groups as seen here. As well as regular sleeping tents, many groups setup shade tents for specific daytime activities. Smaller groups like to camp as well.

A chef stands by a table full of food ready to serve guests. Happy faces all along the dining table as these girls finish off their lunch. Four guests enjoy eating plates of rolls. Meals at Reid Ranch are offered buffet style, though not all-you-can-eat. The dining room fills up for dinner after guests have worked up an apatite from daily activities. Three meals a day are served at Reid Ranch. Western style meals are served at Reid Ranch. Dinner time is a good time for guests to recount their day's adventures to family and friends.

A wrangler at Reid Ranch guides guests on a horseback trail ride. Trail rides lead up and down hills and through the forest. Guests on trail rides are required to wear vests and helmets for protection. Guests take in a wonderful view of trees and mountains from horseback. Horseback riding is one of the favorite activities that Reid Ranch offers. Wranglers lead and follow to keep the group together along the trail. A fun horseback ride through the forest. A wrangler prepares the horses for riders. Swimming in the pools is fun for young and old. Parents and their babies spend time in the Red Creek Lodge's pool. Swim diapers required for all babies in the pool. Youth enjoy their time in the Bunkhouse's pool. Swimming in the pool and sitting in a sauna are both great activities. Youth play a game of pool ball in the Tabby Mountain Lodge's pool. A jump into the pool offers an escape from the heat (no diving allowed). Each facility has its own swimming pool (no pool hopping allowed). Basketball at the Sports Court can be played during your allocated time slot. A group of young men line up for free throw practice at the Sports Court. Young women find another creative use for a basketball at the Sports Court. Two pairs of girls playing sand volleyball. The Sand-Volleyball Court is also allocated on rotation for all groups. The Soccer Field can also be used for softball; sports equipment is checked out at the Trading Post. A boy hits a softball during the group's scheduled time slot for the Soccer Field. Even football can be played on the Soccer Field; sports equipment is checked out at the Trading Post. These boys all aim and prepare to fire off arrows at the same time at the Archery activity. Not to be outdone by the boys even in Archery, these girls now aim their bows. Archery is a free-time activity. Guests stop by anytime as it is not scheduled on a rotation. A mother helps her toddler learn to shoot a bow. Remember, 'safety first' is the rule. A young girl poses for the camera as the boys collect their arrows. After everyone has shot all their arrows, only then can the arrows be retrieved. Putting is the name of the game at the Prairie Dog Greens mini-golf course. People pause putting for a fantastic photo. Is this young man aiming at the rough, or the hole? You can find out on hole four at the Prairie Dog Greens. A Children's playground offers activity for the very young. A large group of young women gathers around the stage for a fireside talk. Skits can be performed on the stage; a popular activity with the Summer Reading Camp held at Reid Ranch.

Time out on the lake with paddle boats and canoes is allotted to each group on a rotation. 'Contemplate the serenity of a clear blue mountain lake' for Reid Ranch's version of a Rocky Mountain High. No swimming in the lake; but just in case a boat flips, all guests must wear life vests while out on the lake. It may look restful, but paddle boating is exercise too. Three girls guide their canoe across the lake. Whether you chose a canoe or a paddle boat, your time on the lake will be enjoyable. Even the elderly spend time on the lake at Reid Ranch. A close-up view of the dock, shows boating time is almost over. Looking across the lake toward the dock. A scenic view of the lake from the dock. Standing on the edge of the lake in the evening gives one a sense of wonder at nature. Ducks make their home in the reeds on the lake, and fish make the lake their home.

Reid Ranch can accommodate very large groups. I like the color coded sweaters here. Multi-generational family photos are a wonderful part of Family Reunions at Reid Ranch. A girls' camp group poses for a photo outside our Red Creek Lodge. This family group ordered a set of Reid Ranch branded T-shirts. Small family groups are also welcome at Reid Ranch. A photo opp in front of the Tabby Mountain Lodge. Church youth groups love to stay at the Ranch for a themed-camp; these girls are asked to 'Rise and Shine Forth.' Many youth groups don T-shirts with their camp theme. Another Young Women's group with their themed T-shirts.

The Uinta Mountains stretch on for miles all around. Hills full of sagebrush, aspen trees, and evergreens. Native plants populate the hill in the foreground, a hill of tall pines in the back. Rain clouds hover over the wild landscape. A hill of aspen trees rises from the land, dotted and capped with evergreens. Pines and firs tower over the land. The Red Creek can be seen meandering through a valley of brush with coniferous forests on each side. A close-up of bushes with a forested hill behind. Tall native grasses grow on much of the Ranch plateau, with mountains rising up in the distance. Looking across the soccer field toward the distant hills. Even the mountain trails that connect buildings at the ranch are spectacular to view. High enough in elevation to view land for miles and miles. A small valley nestled among the foothills of the Uinta Mountains. If, like the bear, you climb over these mountains; you are sure to see more mountains. The cold hour before dawn is the best time to climb to the 'Thinking Rocks.' The sun seems so distant in the haze of the morning. The sunrise is plainly visible despite the overcast skies.

A large field of native grasses. A variety of flowers, trees, and shrubs dot the landscape. Identifying flowers and other plants is a good activity for boy scout and girl scout groups. Lovely blue and purple flowers stick up out of the green grasses and bushes. The Rocky Mountain Penstemon can be found all around Reid Ranch. I believe this light purple flower is part of the Fireweed family. Penstemon flowers grow along side a Wild Rose bush. The Wild Rose is a pretty pink flower. Beware, like other rose bushes the Wild Rose is prickly. The Paintbrush family comes in many varieties. Is this one Indian Paintbrush? The Scarlet Gilia finds its own way in a sea of yellow flowers. A mother duck leads her ducklings across the lake. A deer can be seen in the distance. Sometimes deer come quite close. A shy fawn moves away from the camera. Horses roam in the wild landscape. Ranch horses in the distance feeding in our pasture. A close-up of a pair of horses feeding in our pasture.

A close-up picture of the horse's face. This horse isn't camera shy. Saddled horses await the next group for a trail ride. In keeping with a Western themed Guest Ranch an old wagon wheel decorates the edge of the mini-golf course. Bundles of hay and farm equipment can be seen here, needed for taking care of horses during the summer. Old wooden signs guide guests to different activities and buildings. Reid Ranch owns 400 acres of pristine mountain land, be prepared to do some amount of walking. Three girls spend an evening roasting marshmallows. Need a quiet place just to contemplate life? Head up to the 'Thinking Rocks.' Or, just sit and think in a chair on the lodge deck. When you get tired from all the activity, have a seat and relax for a bit as these four men. Perhaps sitting on the ground waiting your turn is more your style? An impromptu game by this youth group is sure to leave lasting memories. These youth are having a lot of good clean fun.
